The parents of an eight month old male brought him to the hospital in respiratory distress due to diaphragmatic hernia. The baby subsequently went into cardiac arrest and sustained anoxic brain injury. We successfully proved that the defendant hospital and physicians failed to properly treat and monitor the baby’s vital signs, obtain correct laboratory studies, intubate, administer intravenous fluids, timely diagnose his diaphragmatic hernia or treat his cardiac arrest.
Settlement of $2 million
The plaintiff, a 51 year old male, was driving in the city of St. Louis, Missouri when the defendant ran through a red light at an intersection and struck the plaintiff’s vehicle. Because the defendant failed to stop at a red light, yield the right of way, keep a lookout, slacken his speed or swerve or turn his vehicle to avoid a collision, the plaintiff sustained injuries to his head, neck, back and pelvis.
Settlement of $1 million, the policy’s limit
The female baby suffered shoulder dystocia resulting in brachial plexus injury and shortening of the left arm due to birth trauma. Our law firm showed that the defendant’s physicians failed to properly treat and monitor the baby’s mother during prenatal care, failed to examine her blood glucose levels, failed to determine the child’s correct fetal weight and used excessive traction during delivery.
Jury verdict of $840,000
A 36 year old female presented to the hospital in cardiopulmonary distress and subsequently went into cardiopulmonary arrest while under the care of the defendant hospital and defendant physicians. We contended that the plaintiff suffered injuries to her brain because the defendant hospital and physicians failed to properly diagnose her cardiovascular status by echocardiogram, treat her lower blood oxygen saturation level or monitor her cardiopulmonary status by telemetry.
Settlement of $827,000
During labor and delivery, a newborn baby boy suffered birth trauma and injuries to his right shoulder and brachial plexus, requiring sural nerve harvest and grafts at the C-6 and C-7 level of his neck. Our lawyer showed that the defendant physician failed to apply suprapubic pressure, perform an episiotomy, rotate the anterior shoulder oblique, diagnose and treat plaintiffs’ right shoulder dystocia, and that the physician used excessive force and traction.
Settlement of $500,000
A 47 year old female arrived at the hospital in cardiopulmonary distress and subsequently went into cardiopulmonary arrest and died. We effectively argued that the defendant hospital and physicians failed to properly diagnose and treat plaintiff’s low hemoglobin, low red blood cell count and sickle cell crisis.
Settlement or $500,000
A 31 year old male performing his job duties on the deck of a towboat sustained serious and disabling injuries to his right leg and head when a deck line disengaged from a button as a result of the defendant’s failure to maintain control of the vessel.
Settlement of $400,000
An 84 year old nursing home resident in end-stage renal disease suffered renal failure and death. Our attorney proved that the nursing home staff failed to give the resident his prescribed diabetic medication and inadequately monitored his blood sugar levels and that their actions caused renal failure requiring dialysis that resulted in his death.
Jury verdict of $375,000
An employee injured his neck and right shoulder while moving a 55 gallon drum filled with heavy oil. The employer denied he was injured in the course and scope of his employment and did not provide medical care or temporary total disability benefits. As a result, the employee underwent neck surgery and could no longer work.
Award of $303,536 and permanent total disability benefits for life
A 40 year old male who was transferring tow and rigging gear from a towboat to a rigging barge fell into an open manhole on the boat’s deck because the defendant negligently failed to provide a safe place to work and to follow and apply relevant United States Coast Guard Regulations of Operation for the Inland Waters of the United States. As a result of his employer’s negligence, the plaintiff sustained disabling injuries to his lumbar spine.
Settlement of $315,000
A 53 year old female slipped and fell on a patch of ice in front of the gas station entrance that the station attendant negligently failed to clear and salt. The plaintiff suffered a comminuted displaced Colles’ fracture of her left wrist.
Jury verdict of $275,000
An employee injured his low back, left hip and left leg after losing his footing on a greasy, wet floor mat. The employer denied he was injured in the course and scope of his employment and denied the employee medical care and temporary total disability benefits. The employee underwent two lower back surgeries and was unable to continue working.
Award of $160,201.63 and permanent total disability benefits for life
